This term the Grade 1's Integrated Topic has been Inventions, Gadgets and Gizmos (inspired by E's love of Inventing!) All term they have been looking at inventions and the way things work. For the past three weeks the kids homework has been to design and create an invention. Then tonight all of the inventions were showcased in an exhibition.
The children had to prepare speeches explaining how they made their inventions and how their inventions worked. It was really cute - they had buttons on their desks and you had to push it for them to start telling you about their invention (like they do in Museum exhibitions!)
For some reason E decided that he wanted a list of everyone who visited his exhibit so he got everyone to write down their name on his list before he would tell them about it!! After about and hour he'd had enough and he wrote "Finished" on his list and wouldn't tell anyone else about his invention!!
His invention was the "Clothes Picker 7000" designed to collect dirty clothes and carry them to the laundry. Most of the kids had invented some kind of cleaning contraption - if only they would all work our lives would be so much easier!!
