Father's Day in Phillip Island

We decided to something a little different for Father's Day this year - a trip to Phillip Island and the Penguin Parade.

We set off Saturday morning and stopped in San Remo to see the scheduled feeding of the Pelican's. I thought the kids may have been a little frightened of these big birds but they weren't in the slightest (so I guess It's just me who's scared of birds!!)

We then continued on to Phillip Island. Our first stop was the Koala Conservation Centre. This was really cool. It has elevated boardwalks so you can get up close to the Koalas.

What can you see Ethan?? Oh it's only an Ella!!

Next stop was the place where we were staying - the All Seasons Eco Resort. Ella was so excited to be sharing a room with Ethan. Lately during the night she has been sneaking into his bed!! Luckily he doesn't seem to mind!

Our water crazy kids wanted a swim - although it was probably only about 16 degrees!! They didn't last long..... but they had to see for themselves!

Then we had a bit of a drive around and a walk along the beach waiting for 5.30pm so we could go to the Penguin Parade.

This was absolutely unreal! Unfortunately you aren't allowed to take photos of the penguins so I don't have any photos to share. We waited on a little platform on the beach for about an hour or so for it to get dark, the kids were getting wriggly and I was beginning to think that it was going to be a complete waste of time when all of a sudden about 200 little penguins emerged from the water and started waddling our way!! It was so amazing. They just kept coming and coming - we watched them for about an hour and there would have been over 500 that waddled past us. It was such a great experience and the kids loved it so much. If you haven't been and have the chance I highly recommend you go.
To give you an idea of what it was like this photo was taken from the Penguin Parade website.

Then it was back to the Eco Resort for some hot chocolate while watching "Happy Feet"

Ella was so exhausted - she fell asleep within a few minutes and I couldn't help but snap this cute photo of her asleep in Daddy's lap.

The next morning was Father's Day and Mark got spoilt with his favourite breakfast of Bacon & Eggs as well as lots of presents and cards from the kids.

Then it was off to the beach for a walk and some Bocce!
On the way home we stopped at Cape Woolamai - by that stage a storm was brewing, which made for some great photos. I love this one of E running on the beach.
And we couldn't go to Phillip Island without stopping at the Chocolate Factory. We were amazed at this girl who was gluing the labels on the chocolates with a glue stick!!

All in all a wonderful relaxing weekend! Of course I have heaps more photos click here if you'd like to take a look.
