Summer School Holidays

Well the summer school holidays have been and gone and I didn't blog anything!  So thought I would do one big post of some of the things we got up to....

Mark didn't have any holidays except for the few public holidays here and there as he is planning to have 5 weeks home when the baby arrives in April, so we didn't get up to as much as we have previous summers but we still managed a few day trips here and there as well as some trips to the movies and visiting friends.

We had an afternoon at Burden Park with our friends the Wades.  The kids had a great time playing with the footy and rocket launcher until it got stuck on the roof of the toilets.  E got his very first bee sting which had him very concerned that he was going to turn into Beeman (like what happened to Spiderman!!)  The kids were so cute swinging on the tyre swing together while singing "You Spin Me Round"  -  they had all just seen the Alvin & the Chipmunks Squeakquel which features this song.  We finished off the afternoon with an ice cream and frozen coke at McDonalds.  The kids gave us another concert there to the tune of "All the Single Ladies" which some how got turned into "All the Singlets" which was hilarious!!

The kids also did a week of school holiday swimming lessons at our local pool.  They were in the same class together.  They are both really improving which is great to see.  This year they will be in the same class each week on Thursday nights.

We had a couple of trips to the beach at Carrum.

We had a lovely BBQ with my cousin Linda who was visiting from Adelaide.  We hadn't seen her since Ella was about 18 months old, so she got to see how crazy they have both become!!

We went on a day trip to Port Leo with the Wades.  The kids enjoyed some body boarding but spent most of the day digging a huge hole on the beach.

Then we headed off to Rosebud for dinner at a park and a look at the local summer carnival.

We finished the day with a walk and a play on the beach at sunset!  A fantastic day was had by everyone.

We had two trips to the Drive-In to see "Princess & the Frog" and "The Tooth Fairy".  The Drive-In is one of my favourite things to do over summer, there's nothing better than sitting outside watching a movie on a warm balmy night.

On Tuesday 19th we had a 3D scan to see our new baby.  It was really quite amazing and these photos don't really do it justice.  We could see the baby yawning, playing with it's feet and hands.  It's so surreal because even though you obviously know it's a baby you don't expect it to be doing such baby-like things!  The place we went to was really cool too - we could take up to 10 people so the 4 of us went as well as Gran, Simone and Brenda.  Here is the kids and I on the luxurious bed and the scan was shown to everyone on a big screen TV.

On the 25th we celebrated Pa's birthday with a BBQ dinner.  Ella always talks about feeding magpies when she goes to Gran & Pa's so when some magpies showed up she was very excited to show us how she does it.

So that was about it for these holidays.  We did have a few other outings to the park and to friend's but I didn't take photos of those.  I can't believe how quickly that 6 weeks went by!
